Unfortunately there's no money for big pharmacies companies with healthy people 😕 the system only has its self to blame for the mess that it's got itself into Sadly 😥
a vast majority of our population are actually stupid tho and you could discourage bad and incentivise good to your hearts content and make zero difference.
free healthcare is bad, it discourages healthy lifestyles and personal responsibility.
we either need user pays system or hefty "sin/fat/sugar" taxes to discourage but also help pay for healthcare... but the usual screams of racism, inequity etc etc will cuck any govt and prevent change.
maybe putting the onus on the predatory sellers could be a better way?
its illegal for pubs etc to serve drunk people, it should be illegal for takeaways like maccas, kfc etc to serve fatties!!!
All very sensible Peter, but what do we do if folk continue to shit in their own nests, as it were? Pasifika folk eat poorly & are on average way too fat. Maori smoke too much. Why the taboos over identifying this? Oh, and importing thousands of Indians (for example) and their elderly parents (who never paid a single cent in tax in NZ) is pretty stupid given the far higher genetic propensity of Indians for cardiac issues. And we wonder why we have no money for health care…🤔
Yep, all true, however this explosion of folk requiring hospital care is in direct co-ordination and a result of "you know what" in your arm. The Gene tech bill before parliament now has mandates to enforce the next round, Be best if the bill was kicked to touch..
Agree Dave. The health ramifications from GMO or gene altered anything will be disastrous - just look at the USA. Lets look at 'regenerative' agriculture and a return to healthy oriented nutrition. Issue is most NZers are totally unaware of this Gene Tech bill!
Instead of labelling stuff with stars it's quite simple.
Healthy food s are whole foods as harvested in the case of fruits and vegetables, or some minimal 'processing' in the case of meats, fish, nuts and seeds.
You can go further and make your own yoghurt, bread, jams or salad dressing.
Convenience is making people sick, anything in packaging is probably not healthy for you if you consume frequently. Cut out added sugar, reduce the amount of carbs and learn to make your own meals as much as reasonably possible.
You literally are/become what you eat. Unhealthy processed, fast food produces unhealthy people.
A vegetable plot at every school, where they are taught about soil regeneration, growing vegetables would go a long way in correcting the health pandemic in NZ.
The health system should focus as much on preventative steps as it does on curative. This is not to say that there should be a Gauleiter telling us what to eat and how to live healthy - choice is always essential. But there could be incentives. But that raises possible discrimination issues so I guess I had better stop there
Unfortunately we're at the bleeding end of a century long captured 'health model', beginning with .....
"Rockefeller Medicine proved how completely an industry could be infiltrated and reshaped. Through the 1910 Flexner Report, they didn't just eliminate competition - they redefined what constituted legitimate medical knowledge. Most significantly, Rockefeller leveraged his petroleum empire into the pharmaceutical industry, realizing that oil-based synthetics could replace natural medicines and create a vast new market for petroleum products. To cement this transformation, he offered massive funding only to medical schools that taught allopathic medicine - treating symptoms with pharmaceutical drugs rather than addressing root causes. Peter, I completely agree with you, but when I looked at the MNZHA website there is no mention of who "us" is. Not knowing who is involved (maybe apart from yourself) I can't bring myself to financially contribute to the movement. Do let me know if I overlooked some small print.
The trouble with all this is its great to eat healthy food, as I do, and it all makes sense, we are what we eat. However its also bloody expensive to eat healthy food and/or be able to take supplements on top of that. How do you propose to combat the cost of healthy foods so they are affordable, as at the moment it isn't, that's why cheap rubbish food is being taken up.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away

It's part if the mentality drummed into people by politicians over the years of welfare entitlement, victimhood and 'the Govt must do something'.
There are votes in making people dependent and helpless because then they'll promise anything to convince them to vote for you.
Bit like lying to them so they vote for you?

Spot on Peter, well said. Perhaps a subject for all secondary schools to be taught as compulsory. This would be far more profitable than Maori studies.
A vegetable plot at every school, where they are taught about soil regeneration, growing vegetables would go a long way in correcting the health pandemic in NZ.
I was once a primary school teacher. I remember that my teaching duties included PE sessions.
Right on Peter

In Canterbury we established ReEnvisionHealth.nz. A collective and maybe we need to work together with MNZHA...

Community gardens would help. As would gardens at schools!
