I absolutely agree with your comments but as no one in this house follows any form of televised sport we dont even have that to justify watching TVNZ. We have Starlink and access foreign news and web sites. Anything that is genuine News in NZ will appear on Social media or monitoring media.

We do watch TVNZ+ for the 6 oclock news (infrequently)(using the scroll function) for the headlines, and usually its turned off after 10 minutes.

The ONLY redeeming feature of TVNZ is the Weather Forecast at about 6.55pm.

I say, Sell the frequency, sell whatever can be sold, disband the rest, this is the plight of a woke enterprise that fails to serve objectivity and honest reporting of a responsible fourth Estate.

No golden parachutes because any station that fails to be honest and neutral doesnt deserve personnel recognition and no loss making enterprise can justify Tax money to pay unearned bonuses.

Peter - the idea of the State getting out of broadcasting is great but unlikely. Arguments like "service to the public" and "the importance of the 4th Estate" will be advanced. But in addition to flogging off TVNZ perhaps RNZ should be on the block as well
