Let's not forget, it was the Ardern-Hipkins government that prioritised trees over food production on productive farmland. With stock numbers sharply down, the meat processing industry has no option but to 'right size'. IE: close some plants. The many hundreds of meat industry workers who'll lose their jobs in the next 12 months will hopefully remember who triggered this predicament at the 2026 election.

Until I read this I was dead set against the Fonterra divestment. After all, these are brands that resonated through my childhood. You've given me a much better grasp of what's at stake, thanks Peter.
